CHECK-IN?You can check in from 15:00 until 22:00 on the day of arrival. For the check-in you need a valid passport or identity card. A scan will be taken for security reasons. Early? (between 7:30 and 15:00) If you arrive at the hostel before check-in time, you can safely leave your luggage in our storage room and make use of our facilities (kitchen, bar, lounge, wifi …) with exception of the shower facilities.

CHECK-OUT?You can check out between 8:00 am and 11 am. After you can still leave your luggage in our storage room and make use of our facilities (kitchen, bar, lounge, …) with exception of the shower facilities. Please return your bed linen and key at the reception for the check-out. (If you don’t return your key, €10 will be charged.) After check-out: between 11:00 and 22:00 Free storage room for your luggage. Free use of the common area, kitchen and (wireless) Internet. (not the shower area)

OPENING HOURS?The reception is open from 8:00 a.m. until 11 p.m. The front door of the hostel closes at 11 p.m., but there is no curfew. You can always enter with your key. The bar is also only accessible from 8:00 a.m. until 11 p.m., the kitchen until 10p.m. Rooms and bathroom: accessible all day and night.

CANCELLATION POLICYOur cancellation policy always applies, regardless the reason for cancellation. To cancel or change your reservation you need to send an email to info@hosteluppelink.com, mentioning your name, arrival date and reservation number. Only when you receive a confirmation email from the hostel, the cancellation or amendment is valid. If you cancel more than 72 hours before the arrival date, there is no charge. If you don't cancel on time or in case of a no show, the amount of the first night will be charged. All beds in reserved private rooms need to be paid. Once arrived and paid for the reservation, you can't get a refund in case of cancellation.

MAXIMUM STAY?There's a maximum staying of 7 days. Staying longer is possible after consulting with the hostel management.

AGE LIMIT?No, there is no age limit. You’re welcome as long as you’re feeling young. Minors (-18) have to be accompanied by an adult or have a written permission of their parents to stay with us.

PETS?Pets are not allowed in the room nor in our common room.

PARKING?The hostel is located in a pedestrian zone, driving in this area is not allowed except for taxis and busses. Do not drive up to the entrance but follow the Parking Route towards parking Sint-Michiels. Then walk 100m towards the Sint-Michielsbrug. If you would rather park your car for free, you can go to a P&R and take a tram into the center.

HOSTEL RULESRespect the other guests, the staff and the hostels accommodation. Do not smoke or use fire in the building. Do not use alcoholic drinks in the rooms. People who are not paying guests are not allowed in the rooms. At night external people are not allowed in the building. Please make sure the front door is closed properly when you enter and don’t let anybody in you don’t know or who doesn’t have a key. Return your key at the reception when you check out. All payments done at the reception can not be refunded. The staff is allowed to ask for a deposit. MEASURES FOR WHEN RULES ARE VIOLATED Removal from the hostel without a refund. Withholding of the deposit. Key not returned: a compensation of €10 per key. Misbehaviour: a fine of minimum €10 per person. Damage to the property: full compensation for the damage caused. Staff intervention time: a fee of €30 per hour. A combination of these fines, fees and measures. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT to charge one of the above measures, we are allowed to use the credit card details with which the reservation was made. we take a copy of your ID at check-in. We collect data from our keycard access system and our security cameras. The police will be notified in extreme cases of misbehaviour.

SECURITY AND SAFETYWhat we do to maximize security During check-in we take a scan of an authentic photographic identification of every guest Guests have to sign that they agree with our hostel rules We refuse people we don't feel comfortable with. With our keycard access system we can see who opens a door where and when at all times This access system is connected with several surveillance cameras in the hostel You can use the lockers in the rooms and our storage room to secure valuable things We do not allow people who are not paying guests to visit the rooms We encourage our guests that when they enter at night they have to close the front door properly. We make them aware not to let anybody in they don’t know or who doesn’t have a key. We remove people from the hostel in case of misbehaviour What we do to maximize safety Hostel Uppelink is officially recognized by Toerisme Vlaanderen. According to Belgian and Flemish law our hostel is qualified to safely welcome people The main implication of this is that Hostel Uppelink meets all the fire safety regulations We tell our guests not to smoke in the building and not to use alcoholic beverages in their room. A concierge lives in the hostel. In case of nuisance or in case of emergency, the concierge can be contacted by using the intercom at the reception desk or by using the phone number on the front door.

LARGE GROUP? (>9 PEOPLE)Groups of 10 people or more need to contact Hostel Uppelink to make a reservation. ATTENTION! People belonging to one group that book independently from each other without notifying us in advance, can be refused at any time. To secure your group booking we require a 50% down payment upon confirmation of your group's booking. The balance is due at least 1 week prior to arrival. All reservation requests are tentative until we have received your 50% down payment. By paying the down payment, you agree that your group will comply with our current hostel rules. Hostel Uppelink reserves the right to cancel your booking if the down payment is not received by the due date, or if the balance hasn’t been paid at least 1 week prior to arrival. Please note that all payments need to be done through bank transfer and that both the down payment and the balance are non-refundable. We ask final numbers are reconfirmed with the hostel at least 1 week prior to arrival. We'll send you a rooming list to be completed and returned prior to your arrival.

BREAKFAST?Hostel Uppelink offers a buffet style breakfast. All the while, guests are able to enjoy the scenic view over the water. Breakfast is available between 8:00 and 10:00 at €6pp. After breakfast, hot drinks still for free between 10:00 and 11:00. It is allowed to bring your own food and (non-alcoholic) drinks in the Breakfast area. Please note that it is not allowed to bring your own alcoholic drinks into the hostel.

BAR?The bar is open every day between 11:00 and 23:00. You can buy several refreshing Belgian beers, amongst which local beers from Brouwerij Huyghe, at a reasonable price at the bar. We also sell non-alcoholic drinks by Oxfam Fairtrade. Please note that it is not allowed to bring your own alcoholic drinks into the hostel.
